This week, while looking for help in setting up a second Parler account to use for my non-hobby purposes, I came across a large number of far left blogs, twitter forced embeds on websites, etc. All of them were crying foul against Parler.
Intrigued, I decided to investigate a few, all of them had similar complaints, suggesting that their or someone else complaining third hand, had been kicked off Parler.
Previously, I discussed how multiple thousands on Antifa, TikTok and Black Lives Matters sympathizers had flooded onto Parler at the same time at the end of July 2020. Their stated and intended goal? A coordinated, effort to cripple Parler, similar to what occurred in 2019 when the mass exodus of Twitters Saudi Arabia users abandoned Twitter for Parler. Parler at that time simply wasn’t able to handle the unexpected influx.
It’s the middle of 2020, and Parler learned a lot from that experience, increased their staff, updated their algorithms and add more servers. In other words, the radical lefts attack on Parler failed, and it failed miserably.
Parler staff and members who left Twitter due to its censorship of conservatives, took a stand and began reporting violations of all types. This multiple thousand invasion (I was able to determine 7,000 from only a single account), all linked their accounts together as friends. Had actual leaders giving instructions, etc. It wasn’t going to be difficult for Parler to figure out what was going on. One of those leading the attack on Parler even commented how surprise he was that it was actually possible to post to the CEO on Parler and get a real person response, as opposed to Twitter whose staff and certainly CEO hide under cloaks of mystery.
Did they deserve to get banned? Absolutely, they were there for a two day only event to cause chaos and disruption, harass Parler members, to post pornography, etc. All in violation of Parlers, Terms of Service.
The blog “TechDirt”, is one of many pushing the radical socialist agenda against Parler, and apparently an accomplice to the recent DDOS attack on Parler. It’s disingenuous title, “As Predicted: Parler Is Banning Users It Doesn’t Like” is as disingenuous as its entire “article” with reposted tweets from those who took part in the attack to bring down the Parler.
You’ve certainly heard of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack before.
“This is any attempt to crash a web server or online system by overwhelming it with data. DDoS attacks can be simple mischief, revenge, or hacktivism, and can range from a minor annoyance to long-term downtime resulting in loss of business.
Kaspersky reports that DDoS attacks cost small businesses $120,000 and enterprises $2,000,000.
DDoS attacks are illegal under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Starting a DDoS attack against a network without permission is going to cost you up to 10 years in prison and up to a $500,000 fine.” (Varonis.com)
In closing, if you are sick of Twitter’s censorship and toxic environment, I think Legal Insurrection presents several valid and good reasons for ditching Twitter and moving to Parler, or at least adding Parler into your Social Media mix. (Legal Insurrection)
